Funds Society is delighted to invite you to the fourth edition of the Funds Society Investment Summit Houston to be held on February 29th, 2024 at the JW Marriott Houston by The Galleria.
After listening to the investments ideas and the outlook of our sponsors (Barings, BNY Mellon Investment Management, Brown Advisory and MFS Investment Management) we will head to the Houston's Livestock Show and Rodeo, where we will enjoy a rodeo show from the Funds Society private suite.
A shuttle will take us to the NRG Stadium, host of the Rodeo, and then take us back to the hotel after the show.
Join us for a great investment retreat with a perfect mix of academics and one of the most traditional events in Texas. Spots are limited so please reserve your space at your earliest convenience.
If you're not based in Houston, Funds Society will take care of flights and accommodation.

Fred Bates, Managing Director
Frederick S. Bates is the Managing Partner and Co-Founder of BECON IM, a third-party distribution firm specializing in wholesale business development and sales to intermediaries across Latin America and the US offshore. BECON IM represents various world-class global asset managers across the Americas, including Barings, Neuberger Berman, Schafer Cullen, and New Capital (EFG Asset Mgt.).
Before joining BECON IM, Frederick accumulated nearly 20 years of experience at MFS Investment Management and Fidelity, holding senior positions spanning the United States, Latin America, and Europe, where he became fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

James Lydotes, Head of Equity Income and Deputy Chief Investment Officer
Jim is Newton's head of equity income and deputy chief investment officer of equities. Jim is the lead portfolio manager for the Global Equity Income strategy. He has also been the lead manager for the Global Infrastructure Dividend Focus Equity and Global Healthcare REIT strategies since their inceptions in 2011 and 2015, respectively. He has engineered both outcome-oriented income strategies to provide exposure to distinct themes in a risk-aware framework.
Jim joined Newton in September 2021, following the integration of Mellon Investments Corporation's equity and multi-asset capabilities into the Newton Investment Management Group. Before joining Newton, Jim had 22 years of experience across multiple roles at Mellon Investments Corporations and The Boston Company Asset Management (both BNY Mellon group companies).

Madison is a member of Brown Advisory's U.S. institutional sales and client service team, where she focuses on consultant relations and distribution with Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs), Bank Trusts, and other intermediaries. With a strong foundation in both education and professional experience, Madison joined the firm in 2012 after completing internships with the office of U.S. Senator Jim DeMint and Merrill Lynch Wealth Management. She holds an MBA from Johns Hopkins Carey Business School and a BS from the College of Charleston.
Madison also actively engages in community involvement, serving as a Committee Member for the House of Ruth Maryland and the American Heart Association – Mid-Atlantic Affiliate. Additionally, she volunteers for the One Love Foundation.

Scott T. Edgcomb, CFA, Director, Investment Product Specialist
Scott T. Edgcomb, CFA, is a director and investment product specialist at MFS Investment Management® (MFS®). In this role, he is responsible for communicating investment policy, strategy and tactics; performing portfolio analysis; and leading product development.
Scott joined MFS in 2011 as a client service representative. He also served as a regional sales representative and senior investment product analyst before assuming his current role in 2018.
Scott earned a Bachelor of Science degree in finance and management from Georgetown University. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation and is a member of the CFA Institute and CFA Society of Boston.
